IDEAS² researchers presented their work at the Society of Engineering Science (SES) Annual Technical Meeting in Atlanta. The research of IDEAS² students Emmanuel Tardio from UH and Rawad Yazbeck from Texas A&M was showcased in the papers Nonlinear wave propagation in tensegrity structures and An effective macro hyperelastic description of periodic bistable auxetic surfaces. At SES, Dr. Tim Chen co-organized a mini-symposium titled Advances in the Mechanics of Architected Materials.
IDEAS² Co-I Dr. Marzia Cescon presented Bayesian Optimization for the Automated Tuning of Predictive Controllers at the Modeling, Estimation and Control Conference in Pittsburgh, held October 5–8, 2025. Invited seminars by Dr. Chen at Tohoku University and Aoyama Gakuin University in Japan further expanded the Center’s international exposure. These efforts enhanced the Center’s recognition in architected materials, deployable systems, and autonomy for space at the national and international level.
