IDEAS² Advances the Experimental Investigation of Tensegrity Lattices – College Station

In August, the UH–Texas A&M IDEAS² team initiated the development of an experimental apparatus to study vibration behavior in a one-dimensional lattice of periodic tensegrity structures with a square prism unit cell.

The team achieved significant progress in constructing and assembling multiple unit cells, refining the process for greater precision and repeatability. These experiments will enable the first direct experimental demonstration of bandgap formation in tensegrity lattices and provide validation of theoretical predictions.

This research advances IDEAS² investigations into deployable, adaptive space structures.
