The IDEAS² Center was represented at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2025 in Sydney by IDEAS² Co-I Dr. Olga Bannova and IDEAS² graduate students Paula Drozdowska and Harry Espilov. Non-MIRO funds supported travel for this participation. The following papers were presented: Establishing a Permanent Lunar Presence Through Habitat Class Evolution, Star Analog Navigation Device (SAND): A Low-Tech Back-Up Navigation System for Future Lunar Missions, Self-Reliant Exploration (SERENE) Lunar Base Concept, and A Human-Centered Feasibility Analysis of Lunar Lava Tube Architectures, with the last two papers selected for publication in Acta Astronautica, signifying the high impact IDEAS² space research. At IAC, UH students and faculty met with Intuitive Machines to discuss integrating inflatable habitats with trans-lunar transportation systems and lunar terrain vehicles, and with Astrolab on LTV capabilities for transporting habitat modules and heavy cargo.
