As part of the MIRO project, the West Houston Institute at Houston Community College (HCC) led an 8-week program, New Space Explorers, for HCC STEM students to introduce them to the space exploration and technology field. New Space Explorers featured a space-themed project, ISS Mimic, conducted in HCC’s IDEAStudio makerspace.
Participants gained hands-on experience in 3D printing, electronics, and simulation as they built a 1/100 scale model of the ISS. In addition to the maker project, students explored career pathways in the space industry and engaged in leadership training opportunities.
HCC students Jessica Navarro and Elizabeth Annang-Johnson participated in HCC’s New Space Explorers Project, ISS Mimic.
