As part of the NASA MIRO project, the West Houston Institute at Houston Community College launched an 8-week STEM program titled New Space Explorers. The program introduced HCC STEM students to space exploration and technology through a hands-on space-themed project, ISS Mimic, conducted in HCC’s IDEAStudio makerspace. Participants gained practical experience in 3D printing, electronics, and simulation while building a 1/100-scale model of the International Space Station. In addition to technical work, students explored aerospace career pathways and engaged in leadership development activities.
