Description:

IDEAS² Center collaborator HCC spearheaded a STEM initiative that paired community college student mentors with middle school students from Olle Middle School. The project involved designing, building, and testing a functional 1/100th scale model of the International Space Station, with high school and community college students engaged in engineering design, 3D printing, and engineering storytelling. The program aimed to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals while providing students with hands-on experience, teamwork skills, and practical application of their technical knowledge. The initiative was partially supported by the MIRO grant.

ISS Mission: Ground Control – Mimic & Mentorship Program engaged high school and community college students in collaborative experiential space-related STEM activities.
