Description:

In October 2025, the IDEAS² Center advanced its outreach and workforce development mission through coordinated activities across UH and San Jacinto College. At UH, faculty and graduate students engaged prospective students during the Engineering Cougar Preview, showcasing soft robotics, autonomous systems, and aerospace pathways that continue to drive strong enrollment in mechanical and aerospace engineering. The Center also mentored two student teams: the AeroSense Robotics senior design team, developing a soft gripper for handling delicate payloads in space, and the Celestial Explorers Mars Rover Challenge team, which successfully passed qualification trials and advanced to the next phase of autonomous navigation tasks.

San Jacinto College strengthened community engagement by participating in National Night Out at the Central Campus, promoting aerospace certificates, and distributing UH MIRO Center materials.
