Description:

In October 2025, the NASA MIRO IDEAS² Center inaugurated its IDEAS² Distinguished Lecture Series, which will bring an outstanding external expert in space-related research and development to campus each semester.

The series opened with a seminar by Dr. Kingsley Fregene, Director of Technology Integration at Lockheed Martin, titled Autonomous Systems: From Research to Critical Applications and Impactful Collaborations.

Dr. Fregene’s talk highlighted the design and deployment of autonomous space systems. He outlined practical strategies for building effective collaborations between industry and academia, identifying actions universities can take to align with industry priorities and transition research into fielded capabilities.

The lecture set the template for future IDEAS² Distinguished Lectures that will connect the Center’s research thrusts with national and international leaders in space technology.
